About AWC
The Australian Women Council, Inc. (AWC) is a pioneering not-for profit, non-government organisation dedicated to empowering women through education to become independent, self-sufficient, confident, and competent leaders in their careers and businesses.
Founded by Dr Sarifa Alonto Younes with the vision of fostering a supportive, inclusive and learning environment, AWC provides women with access to transformative resources, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities. By equipping women with the tools to succeed, we aim to inspire meaningful change and drive progress in every sector. Founder & President

The Australian Women Council (AWC) was founded from a simple but powerful belief: when women come together with trust, purpose, and generosity, extraordinary things happen.
Throughout my journey as an educator, entrepreneur, and advocate for women’s leadership, I have had the privilege of meeting remarkable women from different cultures, professions, and life experiences. Each of them carried wisdom, resilience, and a desire to contribute something meaningful to the world.
Yet I also saw a common challenge. Many women walk their leadership journeys alone—navigating obstacles, opportunities, and responsibilities without a supportive circle that truly understands their path.
The Australian Women Council was created to change that.
AWC is a community where women connect not only to network, but to genuinely support one another’s growth. It is a space where knowledge is shared, mentorship is encouraged, and opportunities are created collectively.
At the heart of AWC is a simple philosophy: “We Give and We Take.”
Each member contributes her strengths, experience, and encouragement—and when needed, receives the same support from the community.
Guided by our belief that we unite to elevate, educate, and empower, AWC exists to nurture women leaders who will uplift families, communities, and future generations.

At AWC, leadership is a shared journey. Every member contributes their knowledge, experience, and support, and when needed, receives the same strength from the community.
I believe every woman has the power to embrace her true self, shape her own path, and make a transformative impact on the world.

Our Mission

The Australian Women Council exists to unite women from diverse backgrounds to educate, elevate, and empower one another through leadership, knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and collaboration.
Guided by the principle “We Give and We Take” we cultivate a supportive ecosystem where women contribute their strengths, share their wisdom, and receive the encouragement and opportunities needed to grow.
Through meaningful connections, professional development, and collective action, AWC nurtures women leaders who uplift communities, inspire change, and shape a more inclusive and compassionate world.
